3 Typhoons Head Toward Korea
Размещено 08 июля 2015
К полуострову приближаются сразу три тайфуна.
Three typhoons are heading toward the Korean Peninsula auguring a welcome respite after the prolonged drought.
Typhoon Chan-hom in particular is expected to bring torrential downpours, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
Heavy rains are also expected to alleviate the spread of green algae in the Han and Nakdong rivers. But a direct impact on the peninsula may also cause substantial damage.
The KMA said Chan-hom, which was 80 km north of Guam, has the potential of becoming "very strong," measuring 380 km in radius and packing winds of 49 m/s.
A weatherman said Korea will come under the indirect influence of Chan-hom on Thursday as it passes northeast of Taiwan.
The typhoon will drive up a tropical rain front currently located south of Korea, bringing monsoon rains from Tuesday morning in the southern part of the nation.
Rainfall is expected nationwide on Thursday afternoon.
Typhoon Linfa is also heading north toward Taiwan, while typhoon Nangka is heading north from Guam to Japan.
The KMA said the three typhoons are affecting each other's path and intensity and that typhoon Chan-hom is expected to be the one that will affect Korea the most.
